Due to Heavy Rain on Saturday, the Northwood High School Lady Charger softball team will conduct their second annual softball clinic on Saturday, September 6th, at Northwood’s Softball complex in Pittsboro. The clinic will be open to girls ages 7 through 14 and divided into two sessions beginning at 9:00am sharp with the 7 to 10 year olds. They will work out until 12:30 p.m. The older girls ages 11 through 14 will begin at 2 p.m. and conclude at 5:30 p.m.
Coaches include Northwood head coach Butch Edenfield and assistant coaches Rich Droese and Gary Blankenship. Also assisting will be various current and former Northwood softball players, and present and former travel ball coaches.
Attendees will be taught various defensive and offensive drills and techniques. Coaches will work with the girls on throwing mechanics, fielding techniques, outfield skills, and situational play. Offensively, participants will focus on proper swing mechanics, bunting and base running.
Cost of the clinic will be $30.00 and will include the instruction and a T-shirt at the conclusion of the clinic. Long time Northwood Head coach Butch Edenfield is excited about this year’s softball clinic. “We are looking forward to another successful clinic.” Edenfield said. “Last year we had almost 40 girls participate and to have these young athletes working side by side with the varsity players, only makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone involved.”
