Northwood grapplers come close in upset bid over Orange

The Northwood wrestlers hosted the Panthers from Orange on Wednesday in Pittsboro. The Chargers were three points shy of upsetting a good Orange team, 39-36.

CAmyNorthwood jumped out to an early 12-0 lead with pins from Michael Queen (182) and John Dunning (195). However, Orange rattled off five consecutive wins that included 4 falls and had a comfortable 28-12 lead. Not to be outdone, Northwood won the next four matches with Ian Anderson and Carson Amy getting 3 points each, and Lorenzo Lamana and Jonathan Mazurek each pinning their opponents. After regaining the lead late at 36-34 when Hunter Queen pinned his opponent, the final match that followed would be the deciding factor. The Chargers were unable to hold on and lost by a score of 39-36 but put forth a great effort tonight!
