Jordan-Matthews hosted Northwood on Saturday for some post exam week basketball. The Lady Chargers came into the game riding a ten game winning streak and had just defeated Northern Vance by forty on Friday evening, 74-34. J-M’s girls were coming off of a close loss to Carrboro on Friday 41-37.
In the previous matchup between these two teams Northwood cruised to a forty point victory over the Lady Jets. After the first quarter in Saturday’s contest it looked as if it would be another blowout as Northwood had a 19-6 lead. The game was relatively even for the remaining three quarters but Northwood still won comfortably, 68-53. Coach Vernon and his Lady Chargers improve to 16-2 on the season and host the Southern Durham Spartans on Tuesday who are undefeated in conference play.
The J-M boys entered the nightcap game with just a single blemish on their record at 16-1 while the Charges were looking for their first win since their Christmas tournament. In the boys’ previous matchup J-M defeated Northwood by just two points. This contest turned out to be a little different as the Jets won easily 69-48. J-M hosts Bartlett Yancey on Tuesday.
