Bears basketball trounces the Mustangs

Chatham Central hosted Yadkin Valley conference rival North Moore on Friday evening and finished the evening with two convincing victories. In front of a great crowd and even better atmosphere, both the girls and boys teams used quality offensive possessions and great ball movement to secure their double digit wins.

The Lady Bears started the evening with a 63-44 victory in which Gracie Brown had 17 points to lead the way. Mckenzi Brady poured in 15 points, Jocelyn Rives had 13, and Courtney Williamson had 8. Matti Moore, Lindsey Weir, Precious Martin, Jessica Lane, and Victoria Collins each added 2 points.

In the nightcap, the Central boys only led by two points at the half 31-29 but outscored North Moore 38 to 19 in the second half to get the 69-48 win. Matt Clark led all scorers with 19 points, John Thomas Moore had 15, and Trell Woodard had 13. Scotty Polston finished with 8 points, Michael Smith had 7, JaQuan Headen added 4 points, and Derrick Harris had 3 points in the contest.
